There are some incredibly neat effects here, along with some that you could be from any decent photo editing suite. However what this makes easy is to select the areas you want to apply them then do several without messing around with jumping between programs or program and plugin.
The documentation could be a lot better though, including giving more examples of what’s available via the various presets. You’ll spend plenty of time playing.

Boris FX Optics is a very good plugin. It is very easy and fun to use. Playing with those 160 filters, you can get stunning effects easily. But as a stand alone program, it’s raw files support is quite disappointing. It only supports older cameras.

Its a great program. I haven’t used it a great deal yet but I think it will be a regular part of my work flow. Downside is what I hate about all Boris products. My computer crashed, everything reinstalled, new hard drive and now I can’t run the program because I can’t cancell the program on my original drive. Boris is the most pain in the rear company for this kind of thing and I forgot that for a moment when I bought the program. Every other company is much more simple for reinstalls and moving to different computers.
