Create EVOCATIVE Black & White Photography.
These 6.5 hours will change how you see black & white photography. Maybe even photography in general. But no really. If you’ve ever wondered how to make better B&W photographs, then this course is for you.
But first let me be honest with you. There’s a reason why this course is called The Art of Black and White Photography. So much of what makes a great B&W photographs depends on factors you can’t control during post-production. That’s why there’s an ART to seeing before shooting.
But that doesn’t mean science can’t back you up. Some of the most powerful, memorable, and stunning images you’ve seen are probably the ones that were massaged, teased out, and edited into their final beautiful forms.
Now you’ll be able to learn the conversion techniques that make those B&W photographs so compelling and evocative.
19 Lectures of instruction through 7 individual sections
So if you got Photoshop, then you’re ready to learn how to transform your very best color images to powerful and dramatic B&W photos.
Divided from over 6.5 hours of instruction, you’ll get 7 sections dealing with every single tool that COULD be used to covert an image into B&W.
I say could because you’ll learn that NOT every tool is great. In fact, the most obvious ones – Desaturate, Hue/Saturation, and Gradient Map adjustments as well as Greyscale mode – basically give you no control and complicate your workflow.
You got to apply Photoshop’s most powerful/flexible tools to suit your own workflow and goals. But in order to do so you have to understand the tools. That’s where this photography video course shines.
You’ll learn how to use tools like the Channel Mixer or Black and White layer adjustment (as well as all the less-than-ideal tools) to refine and adjust for highlights and shadows until you get the image you want.
You’ll get the meat and potatoes, the ABCs, the 123s, of black and white conversion. And it’s all given with the details that you need to know.
But my favorite section of the entire photography video course is David’s explanation of toning (colorizing) for B&W images. I loved it so much I’ll share one of the lessons with you:
After this one video, you’ll now be able to make B&W photos that are more interesting – maybe you went for that rustic Sepia tone or cool, metallic blue – but as you’ve already figured: there’s so much more.
You’ll also learn advanced tools. The ones that go beyond one-color toning or require data sacrificing like Photoshop’s Duotones. (But that’s in the next video.)
What’s all included? What will I learn?
You’ll get over 6 hours of video divided into 16 lectures
- You’ll learn how create compelling and unique B&W portraits with Photoshop
- You’ll learn how to manage your conversions into a streamlined and process oriented workflow
- You’ll get PSDs to work alongside David + 28 images to use
- You’ll learn the best tools and most effective techniques to achieve better, more interesting, B&W conversions
